Everything about Applied Art totally explained
Applied arts refers to the application of
design and
aesthetics to objects of function and everyday use. Whereas
fine arts serve as intellectual stimulation to the viewer or
academic sensibilities, the applied arts incorporate design and creative ideals to objects of utility, such as a cup, magazine or decorative park bench.
The fields of
industrial design,
graphic design,
fashion design,
interior design,
decorative art and
functional art are considered applied arts. In a creative and/or abstract context, the fields of
architecture and
photography are considered applied arts. Certain aspects of
education, such as
teaching, are considered applied art while others are considered
applied science (such as discrete evaluation and measurement). Fields of applied arts may include some of the same studies, methods and technologies of applied sciences.
Culture
Since the
Arts and Crafts Movement at the turn of
19th century, the applied arts have grown in importance and recognition.
Perhaps the best known school of applied art is
Bauhaus.
